MAIN LAKE STOCK & MAP

Acorn Carp Fishery officially opened in June 2001.

The specimen carp lake is approximately 3.5 acres and is a 16 peg venue. It has a combination of smaller islands and a larger main island, which allows plenty of features and margins to fish to.
The lake is clay bottomed with bars/ shelves and open flat areas, all easily accessible.
In march 2019 the team here at acorn carried out some major works/ improvements to the main lake, including the de-silting of the lake, re-building swims, replacing huts etc and enabled us to give a good thorough health check over our ever so surprising, but pleasing fish stock.
The fish stock is now currently over 400+ stunning Carp, with fish size ranging from approx 15lb to 38lb+ in weight and well over half of them are mid to upper 20's and 30's.
The lake is usually netted each year to remove any of the smaller carp or fry, of which are collected and stocked into our smaller stock ponds.

A few throw back pictures of Adrian and Mark Bartlett ( father & son) in April 2006, netting out Carp under 10lbs,and any small fry ready for the stock ponds.

....the bigger carp being released back into the lake.....with Mark Bartlett unsuprisingly in his element either in or out of the water holding Carp!!
